“The Wave” (welcoming in summer vacation) JUNE 16:

We are working on an opportunity for our LH families (all grades) to “drive by” so we can wish you a wonderful summer!   This event, that we are calling “The Wave,” will take place on Tuesday, June 16. Please read the attached letter for specifics.  The Wave (link to letter)

Items Not Picked Up:

If you were unable to pick up your child’s belongings at LHS this week, there will be one more opportunity: Thursday, June 4 12:00 - 1:00 PM.  If that time does not work for you, please email head custodian Paul Coppola at

Rainbow Connections

Please enjoy our LHS Rainbow Connections in this slideshow, put together by Student Council and Mrs. Michelle Rampi. LHS Rainbows (link to slideshow)

SEL Zooms

Our mental health staff (Dr. Moss and Ms. Fuller) will soon be scheduling times to meet with students in a group format to facilitate a social/emotional discussion about this spring’s change in schooling and to work toward having closure before school ends in a few weeks.  This has been an unprecedented and abrupt life change for our students (and ourselves).  Having the chance to share thoughts and feelings about this situation, and to learn that others have been trying to adjust to this, too, can be an extremely valuable experience.  Topics that you may want to prepare your child to think about before the zoom include: what they learned during this time; whether they developed any new hobbies or had new experiences; their favorite memory from this year; their thoughts about returning to education in September.  The SEL zoom information for your child will be given to you by the classroom teacher.

Third Grade - Animal Show

This Monday, June 1 at 1pm, the third grade classes are invited to a virtual presentation of Nick Jacinto’s Animal Adventures.  He has been a popular yearly addition to our Cultural Arts program and we look forward to our students having the opportunity  to share in his love of exotic animals.  Be on the lookout for a Zoom code from your teachers.  We ask that you remind your children to show the same respectful behavior to our virtual guest as they typically do in school.  We look forward to seeing you on Monday.

LHS Strong Signs

We would love to celebrate the wonderful LHS STRONG signs purchased by the PTG that are displayed on your lawns.  Please feel free to send a photo of your family standing by the sign to Mrs. Lisa Smith, PTG President:  A big thank you to the PTG for this very special gift.

Reminder: Books and Bites Contest

Get those creative juices flowing and take part in an end-of-the-year contest sponsored by our school library.  Please watch this video and read this flyer to learn more details about “Books and Bites,” a competition that brings together a favorite book, some tasty treats, and your own brilliant ideas!

Reminder: Family Fun Day (in lieu of Field Day)

Please see the attached flyer for information regarding Family Fun Day, which will take place Friday, June 5. Family Fun Day Flyer (also under Attachments/Links from the School)

Even though we are in this usual time, we have decided to move ahead with our School Supply Pack Program for the fall.  On Tuesday, June 2, you will receive an email containing the link to the AHartz website where you can purchase school supply packs for your children.  If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Smith at

Calling all LHS Families! Let's give our 6th grade graduates a heartfelt send-off as they move up from Lloyd Harbor School. Families with students in grades 2-5, please consider "adopting" a 6th grade graduate by sending them a letter, small gift or gift card, snack, balloons, something to recognize their accomplishments at LHS and show them how much our little school community will miss them. Items must be delivered/dropped off on June 15.  Sign-up and more details here: LHS: Adopt a Sixth Grader   Sixth grade families will be receiving an email from their class parents regarding this program.
