NOTES FROM OUR SCHOOL
Dear LH Parents,
As you are aware, yesterday we navigated through our first situation this year with COVID at LHS. I am tremendously appreciative of your patience and support. The team of adults at Lloyd Harbor who assisted me with phone calls, early dismissals, and speaking with students who were directly affected did an outstanding job.
At the PTG meeting yesterday morning, I shared that in the event of a quarantine and a return to remote instruction is necessary, students will go back to using the Daily Schedule on the Core teacher’s Google Classroom, as we did during our hybrid model. This is the go-to place for information and will contain everything you need. At a recent faculty meeting, teachers worked on scenarios and plans for these instances and we are prepared to keep instruction moving forward.
During this time parents should:
Remind children of the safety protocols already in place, i.e., hand washing, social distancing, wearing masks, along with the importance and seriousness of these “rules”.
Reassure them that they are safe and quarantining is done to be extra cautious to keep them and others healthy. Quarantining is only “for now”, not forever.
Focus on the positives of how they have adapted to changes in the past, both in school and elsewhere. (i.e., cancelled playdate)
Make a countdown calendar for returning to school (for those quarantined) as a way to keep track of time and draw something to represent something fun that occurred while learning from home. This can be shared when they return.
Please never hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. If you are looking for additional resources to support your child, the links below will be helpful.
I wish you a safe and healthy weekend.
-Valerie Massimo
Jersey Day
Student Council is having our first “official” spirit day on Friday, November 20th. We would like to invite our students to wear their favorite team jersey! If you don't have a jersey, no worries - you can wear a t-shirt or even the colors of your favorite team. Go Team!!!!!
Important Information Pick-Ups:
We have been experiencing an increased number of M-Z families who are coming too early. Our dismissal system is set up so that only students with last names A-L are in our pick-up waiting area between 3:00 and 3:15 pm. The other children are still in their classrooms and not available to be called for dismissal. Our goal is to dismiss all of our A-L pickups first before calling our M-Z students. This makes our dismissal procedure orderly and efficient. Therefore, we are reminding A-L parents to come between 3:00 and 3:15 and M-Z parents to arrive no earlier than 3:15 pm. Thank you for your cooperation during this challenging time.
A Note From the Kitchen:
In order to ensure every student gets the lunch of his/her choosing, we ask that you please order your child’s lunch the night before. This way the kitchen staff can better prepare to meet each child’s lunch choice.
Reminder: Update on Travel Advisory
Earlier this week, you received an email blast with information regarding quarantine requirements, should you be traveling out of NYS. You can find the details on our website: Link to Travel Information and Forms The holiday season is upon us and we strongly recommend that you review this information prior to making any travel plans.

If you are picking up your child at back circle for dismissal, please do not park in the teacher lot. We ask that all cars follow the new traffic pattern and the direction of our security guards. Thank you for your understanding.
