Back to School Night

Parent Meeting for Instrumental Music - Grades 4, 5, and 6
Attention all 4th, 5th and 6th grade instrumental music parents. Mr. Chiarello, our music director, will be holding a Zoom meeting Thursday, September 24 (the day after Back to School Night) at 12 noon for any and all instrumental music parents. He will be discussing in more detail the procedures that will take place this year for instrumental music, and answering any questions you may still have. The Zoom code is: 989 1380 9916.
When your child is going to be absent from school on an in-person day, please make sure you call the attendance line at 631-367-8848 even if he/she is going to log into the virtual lessons. It is still important for us to hear from the parents when an in-person absence is occurring.
Update from our Nutrition Services Director
Our new online order system has had a few bumps but we are up and running. If you have any problems or need to change an order please contact the Lunch Office at 631-367-6970 or email@example.com . Please include the student’s name, school, classroom and what they would like or what you need to change in your email or message. Thank you.
In order to comply with safety measures, this school year we will not be accepting requests for bus changes. The children are to ride home only on their assigned buses by the district. This means no going home with a friend on a different bus. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
This week we are going to begin having Evacuation Drills. They will look similar to fire drills of the past, except children will be socially distanced. Teachers will be notified in advance of the first drill so they can prepare the children.
As you know, children must be wearing appropriate face coverings that are fitted and adhere to the guidelines found in this document Health and Safety Documents. Masks must cover the mouth and nose. Please make sure that the mask your child is wearing is an appropriate size. This will keep it from slipping down his/her face. Thank you for your understanding.
Dress Code - Reminder from Agenda Book
At Lloyd Harbor, students may not wear short-shorts or flip flops (rubber beach shoes). Sneakers are the preferred choice of footwear. Hats or baseball caps may not be worn during the school day, except for medical or religious purposes. Midriffs must be covered at all times and strapless tops are discouraged. We appreciate the continued support from parents and students.

Many parents have expressed difficulty finding staff emails. We now have a link called “staff emails” on the sidebar of the LHS website. Please note that if there is a matter that is time-sensitive, it is best to call the main office.

SEPTO is looking forward to doing whatever we can to help our members and their children navigate this school year. Our mission is to provide parents and teachers with the ability to obtain information, discuss issues, and improve academic and social experiences for all of our children. We invite EVERYONE to join SEPTO this year.

NOTES FROM THE PTG
The LHS PTG needs 2 Class Parents for each class in Grades 2-5, and 1 Class Parent for each 6th Grade Class.
While this school year may be different than in the past, the role of the Class Parent is still vitally important to this school year's success. The Class Parents will meet virtually with their teachers to discuss ways in which they can help organize activities, and coordinate involvement of other parents in their class. Class Parents will work with the LHS teachers throughout the school year, and will be a communication liaison between the school, PTG, and parents at home. Class Parents also collect class dues, maintain class funds, and handle the holiday and end-of-year teacher gifts. Class Parents will be a resource of information regarding school activities, meetings, and volunteer opportunities to the families in their class. Time commitment is limited, and most of the work will be done online virtually to start the school year.
Class Parents are asked to attend the following events: 1) LHS Back To School Night, Wed. 9/23/20 (virtual), 2) an initial virtual meeting with the classroom teacher to discuss needs and activities for the year and 3) monthly PTG Meetings (format TBD).
Please consider volunteering - it's a great way to get involved, and to meet other parents in your child's class and in the school! The Class Parents will be selected by Lottery. (More than 2 people can put their name in per class. It is not first come, first selected.) If you are interested, please sign up below in the appropriate spot by your child's teacher's name. All sign ups must be submitted by end of day Monday, 9/21. Selections will be made on Tuesday, 9/22 and communicated by email. For those of you who ordered lanyards and blankets, they have arrived! Lanyards will be delivered to you via your child’s teacher. Blankets will be delivered to your home ONLY if it is the last remaining item in your order. If you are still waiting for other items, everything will be delivered together.
LHS PTG Communications via Remind
Along with the Friday Notes, Week Peeks, and email blasts, the LHS PTG will be communicating via the Remind app. This will allow you to receive brief text messages on your smartphone from the PTG. If you would like to opt into this service, the instructions are as follows:
