NOTES FROM SCHOOL
REMINDER: BUS OF THE MONTH PROGRAM
We are proud to introduce yet another new way to recognize student positive behavior through our "Bus of the Month" program. Please see the attached letter for details.
REMINDER: OUTDOOR RECESS
Now that Winter is upon us, it is most important that all children come properly dressed for colder weather. Please be sure your child is prepared for outdoor recess.
REMINDER: CHANGES IN DISMISSAL
This is a reminder that Change in Dismissal Notes must be sent to school with your child and handed to the classroom teacher. We are not accepting changes through the main office unless it is a last minute emergency situation. Thank you for your cooperation.
PTG LUNCHEON
The staff at LHS enjoyed a most delicious lunch today courtesy of the PTG. Thank you to all the members. We are most appreciative of your efforts.
Each week we will be highlighting an Encore Subject. Please enjoy the spotlight this week.
SEL AND HEALTH
In 4th, 5th and 6th grade health education classes this past week, students learned basic first aid procedures. Students were taught these situations need to be taken care of right away and to call for help if it’s an emergency. Our next unit of study will be learning about the human body. We will be traveling from the outermost and largest organ, our skin, to the internal body systems. Students will be learning about locations, functions and the names of the organs in each of our body systems. Students will be exploring the human body through our new virtual reality headsets and through hands on activities in their classrooms.
As we learn about the human body, students will be participating in the Kids Heart Challenge from the American Heart Association. The American Heart Association is the largest nonprofit funder of lifesaving research. This fundraiser focuses on the importance of physical activity and healthy eating. Students will be coming home with information on how to raise money to help a great cause. Please follow the three step directions on the front page and sign up online to join our school at Heart.org/kidsheartchallenge.
